I recently contacted Nutribalm on Twitter to do a review for you. They were kind enough to gift me with some samples so I could try their products out! I’ve been using the balms for about a week now, and I’ve really been enjoying them. Nina sent me two different balms, the Relax Me balm and the Energize Me balm.
Nutribalm is a UK based company, and originated in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England. Nutribalm is now ten years old! The founder is Nina Victoria Gallagher, who very kindly sent me a personalized letter with my samples- so sweet! She originally created Nutribalm products to aid in a clinical massage setting but has evolved into a daily use product. Nina even mentioned using it in baby massage on her website, I might have to give that a try with my son before bed! As an added bonus, these balms aren’t tested on animals.
On the left is Emergize Me, and on the right is Relax Me. The active ingredients are Cocoa Butter, Sunflower Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, Argan Oil, Natural Vitamin E, Lavender Essential Oil, Camphor Oil, Black Pepper Essential Oil, Ginger, Clove Bud Oil, and Eucalyptus Oil.
The day I received mine, I accidentally left them in the car for an hour (it was pretty hot) and they got kind of melty because these balms are very oil based. I popped them in the fridge and soon enough they were good to go! It’s recommended to use your balm within 6 months of opening.
These scents both come in 3 different sizes, 20mL, 50mL, and 100mL. I’d recommend getting either the 20mL or 50mL if you are not a massage therapist or someone who would use a lot of this on a daily basis, because a little really does go a long way! The consistency of these balms is to die for. Using the little spatula, I take out a pea sized amount of the product and put it on my palm. It immediately starts melting on the skin. I then rub my palms together and rub my wrists and collar area as well.
Relax Me is described as having a “sweet floral scent”, and has some beautiful lavender hints. I asked my mom to smell my hands and let me know what she thought of the scent, and she definitely was able to pull out some eucalyptus scents as well. Relax Me helps ease stress related conditions, headaches and is a natural way to help get a good nights sleep! Unless you have a baby like me, then you’re out of luck. Apparently I’ll never sleep again. But a baby massage with the Relax Me scent may help you both get a good nights sleep! It’s safe for babies, children, and pregnant women.
I use this at night time, around 7pm so that when my son goes to bed at 8:30/9 I am ready to go to bed when he does. I use a little bit more right before I go to bed to help me fall asleep faster and have a more restful sleep. I sleep like a log until he wakes up. I love that it’s great for sensitive skin, I’m never worried about playing with my son when I’ve applied the balm.
Energize Me is made to combat anxiety, stress and fatigue. I’m not an overly sporty person, but this is recommended for use after exercise. I like to use it first thing when I wake up in the morning. Since I have a seven month old who is not yet sleeping through the night, I find this helps to start my morning off. The scent is natural and woodsy, I find it to be very comforting. The Energize Me balm is the same melty consistency as Relax Me and absolutely beautiful. I love that I can use this in the morning and my hands won’t feel greasy.
Overall, if you are looking to try an all natural balm to help ease anxiety, fatigue, help you sleep better and bring a little bit of comfort to your day, I’d recommend trying these out. They were shipped to me from the UK to Canada and arrived so quickly. These can also be used as an “emergency skin salve” for lips, cuticles and dry patches on the skin. With winter coming up, we could all use a little bit of extra hydration in our lives.
NutriBalm products can be purchased at nutribalm.co.uk. The smallest size offered is 20mL and is £12.00. The larger sizes (50mL and 100mL) are £22.00 and £42.00, respectively.
