Summer Dry Skin Holy Grails

I have been working on my skincare quite a bit in the last few months. I have tried tons of products, and found a few gems for my dry/normal skin. I’m so happy to share them! Skin is such a personal thing, so what works for me may not work for you, but I really hope that one or two of these will!

skyn iceland cleanser

I’ll start off with the Skyn Iceland Pure Cloud Cleanser available at Sephora for $31CAD. You get 5oz of product, and as you can probably tell I’m squeezing every last drop out! It’s a very creamy consistency, but on the face it feels soothing and does foam up a bit, although not as much as a traditional cleanser. I have never before loved a cleanser this much, it is great for sensitive skin and extremely non-drying. It contains aloe to soothe, shea and cocoa butter to hydrate and smooth the skin. This is a must try.

l'occitane shae toner

The L’Occitane Gentle Toner is also available at Sephora. I originally purchased this because I was curious about the price point. For a toner, it’s definitely on the lower end of the spectrum at $28CAD for 6.7oz of product. This toner is made with 5% shea and is so nourishing for the skin. After I use it, my skin feels noticeably soft and hydrated with an almost matte appearance.

dior hydralife serum

At first I was iffy about the Dior Hyrda Life Deep Hydration Sorbet Water Essence– I use it as a serum. The smell is overwhelmingly strong and I became uncomfortable about using it on my skin. However after some research I found that Dior does not add any fragrance to their products, the scent is naturally occurring! After finding that out, I was able to enjoy using this more to discover the benefits. At $88CAD for 1.3oz of product, it’s probably about a midrange price point. However I am so happy with this product! I notice a difference in my dehydration lines being plumped and my skin does feel more hydrated throughout the day and into the night.

fresh umbrian clay mask

The Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask may seem a little scary to someone who has dry skin, since traditionally clay is very drying. However this is able to be used for all skin types and is absolutely amazing! You can use it like a cleanser, leave it on as a spot treatment or use it as a mask. I am fortunate and don’t struggle with acne, and I’m currently using the Boscia Jelly Cleanser for a clarifying cleanser, so I can only speak for it as a mask. The texture on my skin greatly diminishes after using this (I leave it on for 4 minutes, recommended is 5). I have never felt my skin dry out after using this and a little goes a very long way! For a 3-in-1 product like this, the $75CAD price tag seems extremely reasonable to me and when I run out I’ll definitely be repurchasing. This is pure umbrian clay, the only additives are preservatives. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative, Fresh also makes an umbrian clay bar for $50CAD that can be used the same way. You just have to wet it first.

glamglow moisturizer

Lastly I have the Glamglow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer. It leaves a soft feeling to the skin, hydrates all day and leaves a beautiful (non distracting) glow to the face. For a moisturizer, it’s pretty darn good, however I’ve yet to find a moisturizer that knocks it out of the park. Do those exist? This bad boy is $59CAD and comes in three different shades.
